Flume above the Tule River
I'm gonna see how far this goes next time we're up there...
Another view of the half-round flume bottom and supporting trestles
Tule River flume rounding the corner of Highway 190
Alder Creek, above Wishon Campground
Alder Creek -- a still spot a little further up.
Entrance to Doyle Springs (private property), and the beginning of the Wishon trail (to the left)
Little baby tributary to North Alder Creek
View from the trail.
Textures and colors are cool...
View from the trail -- notice the white structure across the way. Fire lookout?
Mist and silhouettes
What your house looks like when it's also your breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
"I have a bug to report."
Lots of this kind of "feel" on this trail.
...ditto....
Manzanitas ("little apples") and bear clover. Some of the other manzanitas on this trail are HUGE.
Another small brook that flows into Alder Creek
No newts here, but I looked. : )
This is what happens in Tule River country when the water starts a ragin'... (this is actually a currently-dry gully that flows into Alder Creek)
Found one! : ) ...right before the next brook we came across. First time I picked one up (they're toxic, so wash your hands and don't lick your fingers..)
Bright orange belly = "Don't eat me!...I'm poisonous!!" (I've read they sometimes flip over like this as a defensive posture of warning...)
So cute it was hard to leave him there. (He's very glad I did, though).
Freedom once again at last...
I think he's considering moss-climbing here...
A second one just a little ways away...
...and a third, right on the trail...
Alder creek. Got some good digital audio recordings from this spot.
